Visit Huacas del Sol y la Luna (tombs/ temples of the sun and the moon), from the Moche culture (100-700 AC). Several structures on this site are still decorated with well conserved paintings on the walls. These paintings can explain us a many things about the history of the Moche culture. The beautiful decorated golden and ceramic objects found on this archeological site can be seen in the museum on site.
From the Huacas we drive to the colonial centre (20 minutes) of Trujillo to visit the monumental Main Square and the colonial mansions where Simon Bolivar and Jose de San Martin stayed.
