ITINERARY

Day 13: Puno – Cusco
From Puno to Cusco you will travel with a special tourist tour-bus. On the way you will make several stops at interesting archeological locations including: Pucara, La Raya, Raqchi and the special little church of Andahuaylillas, just before you arrive in the historical city center of Cusco. This famous city full (Inca) history offers many highlights to see and to visit.

Day 4: Chiclayo – Brujo – Huanchaco – Chan Chan -Trujillo
On your way from Chiclayo to Trujillo you will visit the historical important tomb of Huaca del Brujo and its interesting on site museum about Señora de Cao.
Lunch in the fishermen’s town of Huanchaco.
After lunch you will visit the famous archeological site of Chan Chan. The tour includes visiting two of the most impressive structures on this site: Huaca Arco Iris and Palacio Nik-An which shows different nature, bird and fish motives on its adobe walls.
Arrive in Trujillo around and overnight in hotel of choice.

Day 6: Trujillo - Lima – Ica - Huacachina
A short flight in the morning brings you to Lima. After arriving you will drive in about 5 hours to Ica and the oasis of Huacachina. Here you can choose to relax or join a spectacular ‘Sunset Buggy Tour’ over the sand dunes surrounding Huacachina.

Day 7: Islas Ballestas – Paracas - Nasca
In the morning you leave early to the harbor of Paracas.
At 8 am you will join a two hour boat-tour around Islas Ballestas. Some people refer to these ‘arch’ islands as ‘Little Galapagos’, because of their abundant birdlife, the presence of many sea lions and even some penguins.
You will have lunch in the reserve and then drive back towards Nasca.

Day 1: Lima – City Tour
Arriving in Lima and private transfer to your hotel.
In the afternoon you receive a private city tour through the colonial city center of Lima. This tour includes a visit to the San Francisco monastery, with its colonial catacombs.

Day 10: Arequipa – Colca Cañon
Today you will join a tour to the famous Colca Cañon.
Along the way you will see many beautiful landscapes and many lama’s, alpacas and vicuñas, before crossing an high pass at 4900 m altitude.
Tonight you will stay in Chivay, or one of the local villages around on the bottom of the Colca Valley.

Day 11: Colca Cañon – Puno (3830 m)
Today you will have to get up early to drive along a very scenic route with great views over the Colca Cañon to the special condor viewpoint ‘Cruz del Condor’. Depending on the season it is almost a guaranty to see condors ascending from the depth of the canon where they have their nests.
From the debts of the valley you drive to the Altiplano of Puno.

Day 12: Puno – Lake Titicaca
Today you will join a full day tour over the impressive Titicaca Lake towards the floating reed islands, were the descendants of the Uros civilization live.
After learning more about the Uros culture, the tour continues towards Taquile, the island where men have to knit hats to ‘conquer’ their wife.
A three hour boat trip takes you back to Puno

Day 14: Cusco – City Tour
During your private tour of today you will visit the highlights of Cusco and surroundings. This tour includes visits to: Qoricancha the sun temple, the gigantic cathedral, the mysterios archeological site of Sacsayhuama, the Quenqo sacrifice stone, the Inca Fortress of Puca Pucara and the water temple of Tambo Machay.

Day 15: Cusco – Sacred Valley – Aguas Calientes
During your private tour into the Sacred Valley of Cusco. Your first stop is at the archeological site of Pisac. After visiting the archeological site of Pisac, you will have time to stroll around over the colorful market in the village of Pisac.
After Pisac you will visit Salineras. These are small white pools (salt pans) scattered on the side of a small valley.
On the way to the village of Ollantaytambo, you will stop in Urubamba for lunch.
In Ollantaytambo your guide will lead you around the ancient Inca fortress of this village.
From Ollantaytambo you will take the train to the tourist town of Aguas Calientes (now officially called Machu Picchu Pueblo).

Day 16: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu - Cusco
From Aguas Calientes you take the bus up to the archeological site of Machu Picchu!
Although the site is famous, it is also still covered with mysteries about its original purpose, how the Inca’s could build this city on and between the mountain tops and even about the original name of this city.
Late in the afternoon you take the train back to Ollantaytambo or Poroy and private transport to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 17: Cusco- Lima
Private transfer to the airport and flight back to Lima

Day 2: Lima – Chiclayo – Huaca Rajada – Tumbas Reales
In the morning you will have an early flight to Chiclayo
You will start this tour with a visit to Huaca Rajada, the original tomb of the Lord of Sipan.
Our next destination is Tumbas Reales. This museum shows a great collection with many (golden) objects that were found in the original tomb from the Lord of Sipan.

Day 3: Bosque de Pomac – Museo Sican – Tucume – Museo Bruning
Todays special archeological tour starts with a short hike through the dry tropical forest of Bosque de Pomac (Batan Grande). During the hike you will be able to see different bird species, typical to this area and learn more about its history.
Then it is time to visit the Museum of Sican. This museum shows a great collection with (golden) objects which were found in Bosque Pomac.
Next you will visit the adobe pyramids/ ruins and ceremonial plateaus of Tucume.
Todays last visit is the Bruning Museum. This museum includes a very complete collection about the history of the surroundings of Lambayeque. For example: detailed textile and ceramics from the Chimu and Vicus culture; ceramics + golden objects and jewelry from the Mochica and Chimu culture + several other objects from the Lambayeque, Moche, Chavin and even Inca culture.

Day 5: Trujillo, Huaca del Sol y la Luna and Gastronomic
This tour starts with visiting the archeological site of Las Huacas del Sol y la Luna (tombs of the sun and the moon). This are remains of gigantic tombs/ temples from the Moche culture (100-700 AC). Several structures on this site are still decorated with well conserved paintings on the walls. These paintings/ murals, together with the many beautiful decorated golden and ceramic objects that have been found on this archeological site can be seen in the onsite museum.
After learning more about the history of the Moche, you travel to the coastal town of Huanchaco. The fishermen from this town still use the same model of small reet boats as the Moche civilization did more that 1000 years ago!
In Huanchaco you will receive a Ceviche demonstration and get time to learn how to make a special ceviche norteño. Of course, we also get to taste the ceviche.
In the afternoon we visit the famous Doña Carmen for a bite of sweet.
At 17:00 h we finish our tour with a typical Peruvian dessert and cocktail in Casona Deza.

Day 8: Nasca – Lima - Arequipa
The town of Nasca is famous for the presence of the mysterious Nasca-lines. There are still many theories about why and how these lines were drew in the dessert, but most likely the real answer will always stay a mystery.
Early afternoon you drive back to Lima to take a plane towards Arequipa, also called ‘La Ciudad Blanca’ (The White City), because most of the buildings in the city center were built with stones of volcanic white sillar.

Day 9: Arequipa (2350 m)
Today we have included a private city tour through the colonial center of Arequipa including a visit of the Santa Catalina Convent.
